Treatment (Curtis S Jones)

Th1rt3eN
I shall speak initially about the title. I have had many ideas for titles and decided on this one for projects sake. I had to decide from a list of titles, all of which would have carried a slightly different take on the story and how the opening would pan out. This was my list to pick from; LoBoToMiZe
Xbiation
MonoLith
The Vindication
Detriment
and I ended on Th1rt3eN. I felt this was an extremely seminal take on a title that has been used in many forms before, though I am sure this is yet to be done. The number thirteen, as many know, is unlucky, and so the title sets the vital enigma though also a pseudo-inter textual reference, it reminds people of films with similar names and so they lend it their feel. (Thirteen and Friday the thirteenth) Though all the titles had a creepy feel, look or sound to them I felt that this one had it on a much grander scale, mixing numbers, with capitol letters and lower case letters is confusing and uncomfortable. The other names played with these a bit though dared not to imbue numbers into the name as well. I feel that with the link of number to word that the title works very well for a thriller.

The preliminary shot shall be pertaining to a company or producer that is involved, possibly CCP. Then it will fade open into a short POV shot showing what seems to be a person watching another from behind leaves of some sort. This will be accompanied by sounds of heavy breathing. The shot will fade, though keep the diagetic sound and shall reveal "In association with ...". During this the sounds will resemble motion of the POV character. As the shot returns to this character you see that he has moved closer to whom he was initially observing. This then fades to "Th1rt3eN". Whilst this is shown the breathing picks up, and you hear what seems to be the observer moving quickly towards the observed, noises of a "scuffle" and an injury. This makes the audience feel that the stalker-esque character has just killed or maimed the other character. When the shot comes back into focus however you see, still from the POV of the same character, that what we thought was actually wrong, as we are now looking up at the stalked who cuts the scene with a stomp of some sort. During this the shot will (hopefully) go from black & white, to coloured and back again, also other subtle effects will be used to make it look like the person who's eyes we are looking from is hardly conscious and extremely injured. All of this scares the audience and creates the all important enigma. First with the fear of what this person will do to who he is following and the tension build up during that, and then the shock and confusion of what just happened.

After this was written and presented we decided to change the name of the film project to "The Vindication" for various reasons XD
